Which is better for use on the beach: rubber-coated PU wheels or plastic wheels?

For using camping carts on the beach, rubber-coated PU wheels are far superior to plastic wheels, mainly due to their adaptability to the soft and easy-to-sink terrain of the beach.

Beach Adaptability Advantages of Rubber-Coated PU Wheels

  • Good grip and anti-sinking performance: The outer rubber layer provides elasticity, and the PU material enhances wear resistance. Most wheel surfaces are designed as wide tires or with anti-slip patterns, which can increase the contact area with the beach and reduce the probability of sinking.
  • Strong shock absorption and passability: The elasticity of rubber can buffer the uneven road conditions on the beach, making it smoother to push and not easy to be stuck by sand grains. It can pass stably even in shallow pits or soft areas.
  • Durability suitable for outdoor use: It can resist the erosion of beach ultraviolet rays and humid environments, not easy to wear and crack due to sand friction, and has a longer service life.

Limitations of Plastic Wheels for Beach Use

  • Easy to sink: Plastic wheels are mostly narrow and hard, with a small contact area with the beach. The concentrated weight makes them easy to sink into the sand, resulting in great pushing resistance.
  • Poor wear resistance: Sand grains are hard, so the surface of plastic wheels is easy to be scratched and damaged by friction, and may crack or deform after long-term use.
  • Weak passability: The hard texture lacks elasticity, making it unable to adapt to the soft beach road conditions. It is easy to get stuck by sand grains on the wheel axle, and even cannot be pushed.
